DEKA LACK Transparent Gloss – glossy acrylic clear varnish as a protective coat
DEKA LACK Transparent Gloss is a highly transparent, water-based acrylic clear varnish. You can use it to seal craft and art projects with a glossy protective coat, or for painting, printing and stencilling. It adheres to paper, card, wood, ceramic, porcelain, glass, metal, leather, stone, plaster, foils and polystyrene.
Once dry, the varnish forms a flexible, waterproof film. It is lightfast and gloss-stable, so your work keeps its shine. On glass, porcelain and other non-absorbent surfaces you can bake it in the oven for lasting adhesion. Choose your size from the options.
Applying the clear varnish
The varnish can be applied with a brush, stencilled and printed. A clean, dry, grease-free surface is important, especially on glass, porcelain and metal.
- Clean the surface and let it dry
- Apply the varnish in thin coats rather than one thick coat, to reduce drips and runs
- Let each coat dry completely
- Wash brushes and tools with water after use, while the varnish is still wet
Baking on glass and porcelain
On non-absorbent materials such as glass or porcelain, you can improve adhesion by baking the dried varnish in the oven: at up to 170 °C for 30 minutes. It is best to put glass and porcelain into a cold oven and let them heat up and cool down with it. This avoids stress cracks caused by temperature shock.
Gloss or matt?
This varnish is the gloss version. If you would like a matt finish, choose DEKA LACK Transparent in the matt version. As the varnish is highly transparent, it does not cover: it protects and finishes, and the colour comes from what lies underneath.
