DEKA Fixative CN – additive for wash-resistant DEKAPRINT 2000 textile prints
DEKA Fixative CN is an additive for DEKAPRINT 2000 screen printing inks used in textile printing. You stir it into the ink before printing. On natural fibres it replaces the heat treatment and, as a hardener, increases the wash resistance of the print.
On synthetic fibres, according to DEKA, a short heat treatment is needed in addition to adding the fixative. The 250 ml is enough to treat several litres of ink, as the dosage is 40 g of Fixative CN per 1 l of DEKAPRINT 2000.
Using Fixative CN
The fixative goes into the ready-mixed ink, not onto the fabric. Calculate the amount according to the quantity of ink you actually want to print: 40 g per 1 l equals 4 g per 100 ml of ink. Only mix as much as you will use promptly, as the prepared ink can only be worked for a limited time.
- Weigh out the Fixative CN and stir it into the DEKAPRINT 2000 before printing
- Stir thoroughly until no streaks are visible
- Print through the screen as usual
- Clean the screen and tools straight after printing
Natural or synthetic fibres?
On natural fibres such as cotton, no heat treatment is needed. The printed fabric must then be left for 4 weeks at room temperature before its first wash. On synthetic fibres you also add Fixative CN, but additionally treat the print with heat for 3–5 minutes. According to DEKA, the best fastness is achieved at 110–130 °C.
