Schmincke Screen Printing Medium – colourless, paste-like medium for acrylic and gouache

Schmincke Screen Printing Medium is a colourless, paste-like medium for screen printing with water-based paints such as acrylic and gouache. It slows drying noticeably, so the paint stays workable for longer. At the recommended addition rate, the colour shade does not change.

The medium is ready to use and is mixed into the paint at 10–50 %, depending on the consistency you want. It cannot be used neat. It is water-miscible, and water is also the thinner.

Using the medium

Stir the medium thoroughly into the paint before printing until the mixture is even. The amount you add controls consistency and drying time: the more medium, the longer the paint stays open. With approx. 20 % added, the drying time is extended by approx. 70 % according to the manufacturer. Because the paint dries more slowly, it does not clog the screen as quickly. Do a test print with your paint and your surface first, so you can see which mixture suits your technique.

• Mix medium and paint in the desired ratio of 10–50 % medium
• Never use neat
• Do not work below 10 °C object and room temperature

Cleaning and storage

Clean the screen, squeegee and tools with water or with water and soap. Close the container immediately after use and store it in a cool, dry place.
