URSUS Kite Paper 42 g/m² – Through-Dyed Translucent Paper for Lanterns and Window Pictures
URSUS kite paper, also called translucent paper, is a thin, through-dyed craft paper weighing 42 g/m². You get one roll containing a sheet of 70 x 100 cm. The size is enough for lanterns, window pictures, kites or decorations, and it works well in nursery and school settings. Choose your colour from the options.
The paper is through-dyed, so the colour is not just on the surface. It is not self-adhesive. Thanks to its low weight, it is easy to cut, fold and stretch over frames. Because it is so thin, light shines softly through it.
Making a lantern
Cut the paper to fit your frame and allow a little extra at the edge to fold over. Apply the glue thinly and only along the edge. With a lot of glue or moisture, thin paper wrinkles and can stain. If you stretch it carefully, the surface stays smooth. For the light inside the lantern, it is best to use an LED light, as paper is flammable.
