FIMO Gloss Varnish 35 ml – clear varnish for a glossy, protected finish

FIMO gloss varnish is a clear, water-based varnish that protects your modelled and baked FIMO creations and gives them a high-gloss finish. It comes on a blister card as a 35 ml jar, with the brush in the lid, so you can get started straight away.

The varnish dries clear, so the colours of your piece stay visible. It is lightfast and weatherproof. That helps with pieces exposed to light or kept outdoors.

Varnishing your FIMO piece

First bake your piece following the instructions for the modelling clay and let it cool completely. Only then apply the varnish with the brush from the lid. Brush it on evenly and not too thickly, so that no brush marks or drips form. After about 20 minutes the surface is touch-dry, and after 24 hours the varnish is fully cured. Until then, avoid putting the piece under heavy strain.

Cleaning the brush and choosing a varnish

As the varnish is water-based, clean the brush with water straight after use. Dried-on varnish is very hard to remove later. If you would prefer a satin-matt finish rather than high gloss, FIMO has its own satin-matt varnish. The gloss varnish is also available in a smaller 10 ml size.
