The KnitPro ZING straight knitting needles, 40 cm long, are single-pointed needles for pieces worked flat, such as cardigan panels, jumper sections, scarves or blankets knitted in rows. They are made of aluminium with a very smooth surface, so the stitches glide easily. Their low weight means your hands and wrists tire less quickly, even during long knitting sessions.

What 40 cm needles are suited to

With straight needles you knit back and forth, row by row, with the stitches sitting on the needle. At 40 cm, they hold a medium number of stitches, for example for sleeves, scarves, smaller blankets or back and front pieces of moderate width. For very wide pieces with many stitches, a circular knitting needle is usually more comfortable, because the weight is spread across the cable.

Choosing and using them

Use the needle size your pattern specifies. What matters is the tension given in your pattern. If your tension is too loose, switch to a smaller needle; if it is too tight, switch to a larger one.
