Jeans Sewing Machine Needles 130/705 for Heavy Fabrics

Use these jeans needles for denim, faux leather and thick cotton fabrics. Their very slim point pierces dense weaves without damaging the fibres. The reinforced shaft keeps the needle steady through several layers of fabric and flat-felled seams, and reduces skipped stitches and needle breakage.

The needles fit domestic sewing machines that use needle system 130/705. Size 90 is usually enough for medium-weight denim; for thick layers, use 100 or 110.

Tips for sewing heavy fabrics

The needle size number is the diameter of the blade in hundredths of a millimetre, so a size 90 needle is 0.9 mm thick. The thicker the fabric and thread, the larger the needle should be. For topstitching with thicker jeans thread, choose 100 or 110.

Insert the needle with the flat side of the shank positioned as your sewing machine's instructions describe, and push it up as far as it will go. Sew slowly over thick areas such as flat-felled seams. Change the needle as soon as you get skipped stitches, the thread breaks or the needle makes an audible "thud" as it pierces the fabric – a blunt or slightly bent needle damages the fabric.
