Gütermann Extra Strong sewing thread set – tear-resistant thread for heavily stressed seams

The Gütermann creativ Extra Strong sewing thread set contains 6 reels, each with 100 m of 100 % polyester sewing thread, for seams that have to withstand a lot: jeans, leather, heavy fabrics, tarpaulins and repairs. The thread is particularly tear-resistant, slightly stretchy and very hard-wearing. This keeps seams strong in places subject to tension and friction, such as waistbands, pockets or shoulder straps.

The set includes six colours: 000 Black, 800 White, plus 722, 676, 701 and 339. With 600 m of thread in total, you have a supply in the most popular colours to hand for several projects or repairs.

What the thread is suitable for

Extra Strong is a thread for denim, leather, dense and heavy fabrics, tarpaulins and repairs to robust textiles. It is too thick for fine or thin fabrics; for those, a finer all-purpose thread is a better choice.

Sewing with Extra Strong

With a thickness of No. 40, you need a suitable needle. Gütermann recommends a universal needle size Nm 90–110, so that the thread runs smoothly through the eye of the needle and the seam is even. For thick layers of fabric, choose a slightly longer stitch length and test the thread tension and stitch appearance beforehand on an offcut of the same material.
