Canson XL Bristol Smooth Drawing Pad, 50 Sheets, 180 gsm

Canson XL Bristol Drawing Pad – extra smooth paper for precise lines

The Canson XL Bristol drawing pad is a spiral-bound pad with 50 sheets of extra white, very smooth drawing paper (180 gsm) for precise drawings with sharp lines. Choose your size from the options.

The smooth surface suits pencil, coloured pencils, wash, ink pens and airbrush. The paper is resistant to repeated scratching and erasing, acid-free and age-resistant. This is useful if you correct your drawings and want to keep them later. You can tear the micro-perforated sheets cleanly out of the pad, and the firm backing gives support when drawing without a table.

Working on smooth paper

On a very smooth surface, little pigment holds in the paper texture. With pencil and coloured pencils, build up tones in thin layers rather than pressing hard. For wash and other wet techniques, bear in mind that paper of 180 gsm can cockle with a lot of water. Test the technique on a spare sheet first, and when using ink, place a sheet under your drawing so that nothing bleeds through onto the next page.
