Sakura Sketch Book 12 × 12 cm square sketchbook, black pages

Sakura Sketch Book 12 × 12 cm – square sketchbook with black pages

The Sakura Sketch Book in 12 × 12 cm format is a square sketchbook with 80 black sheets (160 pages) for drawing, sketching and notes. The paper is 140 gsm and acid-free. The hard cover is black, and an elastic band keeps the book closed.

The illustrated dust jacket is by Marieke Sanchez and, according to the manufacturer, can be used as a bookmark. At the back of the book there is a fold-out pocket for loose sketches or notes. A pen loop is built into the cover, so your favourite pen is always with you.

What to use on black paper

Light, opaque colours show up well on black paper, while dark pens are barely visible. According to Sakura, the book suits Pigma Micron, Pigma Brush, Koi Coloring Brush Pen, Gelly Roll, Permapaque and Cray-Pas. You can draw with ink, gel pens or oil pastels. Try a new pen on one page first: that way you can see how opaque the colour will be on the black background.

A format for on the go

At 12 × 12 cm, the book fits into small bags and is intended for sketches on the move, motif studies or collecting ideas. The elastic closure keeps the book compact, and you can store loose sheets in the pocket at the back. Sakura also offers its sketch and notebooks with cream-white pages and in other sizes.
