The Caran d'Ache SKETCHER Non-Photo Blue is a light blue dry pencil for the preliminary drawing of sketches, comics and illustrations. The blister contains 2 pencils. The lead is fine, soft and hard-wearing, so you can draw fine lines and also cover broader areas. An eraser sits at the end of the pencil, so you can keep correcting your sketches.

According to Caran d'Ache, the blue line does not show up in black-and-white reproductions such as scans and photocopies. You can therefore apply ink or colour directly over the preliminary sketch without having to erase the lines first. Erasing does not affect the drawing. The pencil is Swiss Made.

Working with the non-photo blue pencil

The pencil is intended for the first sketch, which is later worked up in ink or colour. Light pressure helps to keep the lines inconspicuous in scans and copies.

• Sketch with light pressure. The blue lines will then not be visible in black-and-white copies and scans.
• Draw ink or colour directly over the preliminary sketch without erasing the blue lines.
• Correct with the eraser at the end of the pencil; the lines you have already drawn are retained.
• If you press hard, retouching the hue or exposure on the computer may be needed to remove the line completely.
