Royal Talens Fine Pumice Texture Paste – fine grain and reliefs for acrylic painting

Royal Talens fine pumice texture paste is a grey acrylic medium for creating fine, grainy textures and reliefs on your painting surface. The pot contains 250 ml.

You can apply the paste neat or mix it with acrylic paint. It can be applied in thick layers and worked while it is still drying, so you can shape surfaces before they set. Once dry, the paste is waterproof and can be painted over with acrylic paint.

Working with the paste

The fine grain suits delicate surfaces such as sandy areas, plaster effects or slightly rough backgrounds. For bold, pronounced reliefs, a coarser grain is more suitable.

• Apply the paste to the painting surface with a spatula, palette knife or brush; thick layers are also possible.
• While the paste is still wet, you can shape the texture, for example by smoothing or scoring it.
• Leave the texture to dry completely; thick layers take correspondingly longer.
• Then paint over it with acrylic paint, or mix the paste with acrylic paint beforehand.

Colour and handling

The paste is grey in its natural state. If you mix it with acrylic paint, this base tone affects the result, especially with light colours. Test the mixture on a sample piece first. Only use the paste at temperatures above 10 °C and store the pot frost-free. Clean your tools with water while the paste has not yet dried.
