Royal Talens Pumice Texture Paste, Coarse, 250 ml

Royal Talens Coarse Pumice – texture paste for grainy reliefs in acrylic painting

Royal Talens coarse pumice texture paste (Amsterdam painting medium Pumice, coarse variant 128) is a painting medium for acrylic painting. You can use it to create coarse, grainy textures and reliefs on your painting.

You can use the paste neat or mix it with acrylic paint. It is grey and can be used straight away without adding colour. Because the medium is coloured, it affects the colours when mixed, so expect a slightly darker or greyer result. The paste can be applied in thick layers and painted over with acrylic paint once dry. It is waterproof once dry.

Working with the paste

Apply the paste with a spatula, palette knife or brush. For pronounced reliefs, you can apply it thickly. While it is not yet completely dry, you can work the surface, for example by using a spatula or the end of a brush handle to make marks and patterns. Once dry, paint over it with acrylic paint. If you mix the paste with acrylic paint beforehand, the colour runs through the whole texture. Use it only at temperatures above 10 °C and store it frost-free. Clean your tools with water.

Coarse, medium or fine?

Royal Talens also offers the pumice in fine and medium grades. The coarse version gives the strongest, roughest texture. In model making, it can be used to recreate surfaces such as concrete, stone and gravel.
