Schmincke Acrylic Light Structure Paste (art. no. 50543) is an extra light acrylic texture paste for creating structure in acrylic painting. It has a stiff, heavy-bodied consistency and dries white, matt and smooth to a more absorbent surface.

Thanks to its low weight, it works well on large areas. You can also use it on flexible supports such as canvas. According to Schmincke, it dries much faster than the manufacturer's other acrylic pastes, so you can move on to the next step sooner.

Working with the paste

Apply the paste to the surface with a palette knife and shape the texture while it is still wet. The edge of the knife, the end of a brush handle or a sponge will create ridges, waves or rough areas. If you need a softer consistency, thin the paste with a little water. Once the texture is completely dry, you can paint over it with acrylic paints. Because the surface is more absorbent, a test piece will show you beforehand how your colours look on it.

Who is the light structure paste for?

If you want to create texture on large canvases or surfaces, the paste's low weight is its main strength: the texture stays lighter than with heavier pastes. The faster drying helps when you work in layers. Schmincke also offers the paste in a 1-litre container; the 300 ml size is enough to get started and for smaller formats.
