Faber-Castell converter – fill your fountain pen with bottled ink
With the Faber-Castell converter (art. no. 148785), you can make your Fine Writing or Grip fountain pen refillable. You fit it in place of an ink cartridge and draw up ink from a bottle. That way you are not tied to cartridges and can use any colour you have as bottled ink.
The converter is fitted just like a standard Faber-Castell cartridge. You draw the ink in through the nib by turning the converter. The converter does not contain ink.
How to fill the converter
Filling takes only a few steps. It is important that the nib opening is fully submerged in the ink while drawing it up, otherwise the converter will suck up air instead of ink.
- Fit the converter into the fountain pen in place of a cartridge
- Dip the nib into the ink
- Turn the converter until the ink has been drawn in through the nib
- Release a little ink by turning back the other way, so that any air bubbles disappear
- Wipe the nib and start writing
Changing ink
If you want to use a different ink colour, rinse the converter and nib through with clear water first. This stops the colours from mixing and keeps the new ink clean.
