Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen set of 4 – four line widths in black

The Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen set of 4 (art. no. 167100) contains four black ink pens for sketching, drawing, illustrating and hand lettering. Three pens have fineliner nibs in S (0.3 mm), F (0.5 mm) and M (0.7 mm), and the fourth has a brush nib (B). One set covers fine details, outlines and varying line widths.

The pens are filled with pigmented artists' drawing ink. The ink is waterproof, permanent, highly lightfast, odourless and acid-free. Drawings keep their colour and stay put when you colour them in with watercolours later. It is also water-based and pH-neutral. The pens come in a plastic case.

Which nib for which job?

S (0.3 mm) is for fine details, hatching and small lettering. F (0.5 mm) suits outlines and sketches, and M (0.7 mm) suits bolder lines and illustrations. Depending on the pressure, the brush nib B gives thin to broad strokes and works well for hand lettering and expressive lines.

Working with the pens

For hand lettering, use light pressure with the brush nib on the thin upstrokes and press harder on the downstrokes to vary the line width. Let finished lines dry briefly before going over them with watercolours or erasing. Put the cap back on after drawing so the nibs do not dry out. While you work, you can push the cap onto the end of the barrel.
