Copic Multiliner SEPIA – waterproof fineliner for underdrawings and sketching

The Copic Multiliner in sepia is a fineliner with waterproof pigment ink for sketching, underdrawing and pure line work. The ink is matched to the Copic marker system: underdrawings do not bleed, even after being coloured over several times with Copic markers. The warm brown looks softer than black, so it suits portraits, illustrations and manga motifs where the outlines should not look harsh.

The lines are sharp, photocopy-proof, smudge-proof and resistant to UV light. That helps if you want to copy or scan your drawings later. According to the manufacturer, the pigment ink is alcohol- and water-resistant and acid-free.

Using the Multiliner with Copic markers

First draw your design with the Multiliner and let the lines dry completely. Only then are they waterproof and smudge-proof. You can then colour the area with Copic markers without the outlines running. With alcohol markers, the line stays sharp even after being coloured over several times. It is best to work on smooth paper suitable for markers, so that the ink does not feather.

Which line width?

The Multiliner Sepia comes in 7 sizes: five line widths from very fine up to 0.5 mm and two brush tips. The fine tips suit details and clean outlines. With the brush tips you can draw softer strokes with variation, that is, lines that are thinner in places and bolder in others. Choose the line width from the options.
