Liquid Glazes for Colorful and Effect-Rich Ceramic Surfaces
Liquid glazes are ready-to-use ceramic glazes that can be applied with a brush or according to the manufacturer's specified method. Depending on the range, they can produce opaque, transparent, glossy, matte or reactive surfaces, making them suitable for many hobby, school and studio projects.
Plan the Application and Firing
– follow the manufacturer's recommended number of coats and application method
– stir the glaze thoroughly before use
– match the firing range to the clay body
– use test tiles for new combinations to check color and glaze movement
Ceramic glazes react to application thickness, firing temperature and substrate. Always check the information for the individual glaze, and with effect or layered techniques allow adequate clearance from the kiln shelf if the manufacturer notes that the glaze may run.
