Prym quilting pins with flower head – long, fine and iron-safe
Prym quilting pins hold several layers of fabric together when patchworking and quilting. They are 50 mm long and 0.6 mm thick. The shaft is made of hardened steel, and the flat flower-shaped head of heat-resistant yellow plastic. The fine point passes easily through several layers without damaging the fibres.
The join between shaft and head is firm, and the surface has an even, pore-free coating. The 50 pins come in a transparent plastic box, so you can see at a glance how many are left.
Why flat heads help when quilting
When quilting, you often pin top fabric, wadding and backing close together. The long pins go through all the layers, and the flat heads do not sit high. This means you can run the iron over the pins, for example when pressing seam allowances or blocks while pinning them together. The heads are iron-safe at setting 2, so do not iron at a higher temperature than this.
Pinning layers neatly
Insert the pins at right angles to the seam line so that the layers do not shift. Remove the pins before sewing instead of sewing over them, so that the sewing machine needle does not hit metal.
