Prym Leather Needles 130/705 – 5 Sewing Machine Needles for Leather in Three Sizes

Prym leather sewing machine needles (art. no. 154450, system 130/705 H LL) are for sewing leather and faux leather. According to Prym, the needle has a specially shaped three-sided point that cuts easily into the material without damaging it. It also prevents perforation seams from forming.

The needles have a flat shank and fit any standard household sewing machine. You can use them with any standard sewing thread. The set contains five needles: 2 × size 80/12, 2 × size 90/14 and 1 × size 100/16. That way you have the right size to hand for both thinner and firmer leather.

Sewing with the leather needle

Insert the needle with the flat side of the shank facing the back, as with any household machine needle. Choose the size to suit the material: use the 80 for thinner leather and the 90 or 100 for firmer leather. Make a test piece from an offcut first, because every needle hole stays visible in the leather.

• Set the stitch length slightly longer than for woven fabric
• Do not hold leather with pins, as the holes remain; use clips instead
• If the needle is blunt or skips stitches, change the needle
