Styropor Polystyrene Cubes – a Lightweight Base for Decorations and Craft Ideas

The Styropor polystyrene cube is a lightweight, shape-stable blank for craft and decoration projects. You can paint it, glue things onto it or decorate it with other materials, for example for shop window displays, event decorations, school projects or your own DIY ideas.

The cubes come in sizes from 6 to 29 cm. Small cubes suit details and table decorations, while large ones give you surface area and volume for eye-catching arrangements. Choose your size from the options.

Working with Styropor

Water-based acrylic paints and craft glues work well on Styropor. Solvent-based paints, spray varnishes and glues can dissolve the material, so test them first on an inconspicuous spot or on an offcut from a cube. A base coat of acrylic paint gives an even surface before you paint patterns or stick on napkins, paper or fabric. Apply hot glue only briefly and sparingly, as the heat can dent the surface.

Which size to choose

For craft work at a table and for details, choose the smaller cubes. For displays, plinths or decorative arrangements in shop windows and at events, plan on larger cubes or stack several cubes of the same size.
