Rayher Styropor® disc Ø 15 cm – round base for crafting

The Rayher Styropor® disc (art. no. 3000400) is a round base made of white polystyrene (EPS), 15 cm in diameter and 7 cm high. You can paint it, cover it or coat it, and use it for crafts, decoration, model making or as a base for dummy cakes and displays.

The disc is light and has a smooth, even surface. You can cut it to size to suit your project. At 7 cm high, it offers more volume than the flat discs in the range.

Working with the disc

Polystyrene reacts badly to solvents: paints containing solvents, spray varnishes and some glues eat holes into the surface. Use water-based acrylic paint and craft glue instead, and test unfamiliar products on a corner first. To cut it, use a serrated knife and draw it through the material with an even stroke. This way the edge is less likely to crumble.

Choosing the right disc

The range comes in Ø 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 cm, each in heights of 4 cm and 7 cm. Choose the 7 cm high disc in Ø 15 cm when your project needs volume, for example as a compact plinth or as a base for small constructions. For flat bases, the 4 cm high version is enough.
