Herbin wooden wax seal handle – holder for seal heads

The Herbin wooden handle is the holder for metal seal plates: you screw a seal plate on and use it to stamp wax seals on letters, invitations and other DIY projects. Choose your colour from the options.

The handle is approx. 10 cm long and fits the Herbin brass seal plates (24 mm diameter, 5 mm thick). As the plates screw on, you can use several designs with one handle and swap the plate whenever you like. The seal plate is not included with the handle and is bought separately.

Sealing with the handle

Screw the seal plate firmly onto the handle. Drip the sealing wax onto the paper until it forms a round pool slightly larger than the plate. Place the plate in the centre, press down evenly and hold it for a few seconds. Then lift it straight off so the design does not smudge. The most common mistake is too little wax: the design is then incomplete at the edge.

The handle and seal plate are sold separately. When buying the plate, look for brass with a 24 mm diameter and a screw thread for Herbin handles. You will also need sealing wax and a heat source to melt it.
