JUMBO Mug Plaster Mould – Large Slip Casting Mould for Mugs

The JUMBO mug plaster mould is a slip casting mould for casting large, plain mugs and cups. The mould has a diameter of approx. 12.5 cm and a height of approx. 9.5 cm.

The mould is reusable. You can cast several mugs of an even shape from the same mould, whether you are a beginner or have casting experience.

Casting a mug

The plaster draws water out of the casting slip, so the mug wall builds up against the wall of the mould. Timings depend on the slip and the room temperature, so follow the instructions for your casting slip.

• Have the mould ready, dry and free of dust
• Pour in the casting slip and leave the wall thickness to build up
• Pour out the excess slip and let the mug firm up
• Carefully remove the mug from the mould, fettle it, then dry and fire it

Good to know

The stated dimensions describe the shape of the mould. The clay shrinks during drying and firing, so the finished mug turns out slightly smaller. Plaster absorbs water: let the mould dry thoroughly after casting and do not soak it in water.
