Rico Design silicone mould for letter cubes with large hole

With this Rico Design silicone mould you can cast 7 × 7 × 7 mm letter cubes with a large hole, for example for names and words in jewellery. The mould is made of soft silicone and, according to Rico Design, is suitable for epoxy resin, UV Resin Soft and UV resin. The mould features the letters A to Z as well as the characters &, + and –, plus a heart and a star.

The soft silicone has a practical advantage: according to Rico Design, fully cured cubes can be removed from the mould easily and without residue, ready for finishing. The mould contains each letter only once. For names with repeated letters, you therefore cast in two batches.

Making the letter cubes

Place the mould on a level surface so that the cubes come out an even height. Pour the resin carefully into the recesses and fill each cavity only up to the edge. Prick any air bubbles with a cocktail stick before curing the resin. How long it needs to cure, and with what, is stated in the instructions for your resin. Let the cubes cure completely before you demould them.

• For small moulds, Rico Design recommends UV resin in a bottle with a fine dispensing tip, which allows precise dosing.
• Before casting, set out the letters for your word and check whether any letter occurs twice.
