The COSMOTOP-SPIN series 5584 from da Vinci is a watercolour brush with a pointed oval tip and extra-fine, very supple light brown synthetic fibres. The hair is soft and springy, picks up paint well and releases it slowly and steadily onto the painting surface. This lets you lay even washes over large areas, while the tip still allows fine detail.
The ferrule is seamless and made of silver, and the short wooden handle is hexagonal with a red glaze. The short handle sits close to the hand and helps you work with control at the table. The brush is available in 8 sizes from 8 to 30. Choose the size from the options.
What the brush is suitable for
The COSMOTOP-SPIN is suitable for washes and watercolour work, right through to drawing fine details. As a wash brush, you can spread water and paint over larger areas and soften transitions. It is also suitable for silk painting. Load plenty of paint, start with the full body of the brush and let the tip run out cleanly for outlines and edges.
Choosing a size
The higher the number, the larger the brush and the more water and paint it holds. Use small sizes for details and smaller formats, and large sizes for backgrounds, skies and areas of water. For watercolours in several formats, you can combine a small and a large size.
Care
After painting, rinse the brush in clean water until no more paint comes out. Reshape the tip with your fingers and leave the brush to dry lying flat. This keeps the hair and ferrule in shape. Do not leave it standing in water for long periods, so that the wooden handle does not swell.
