Set 4209 from the da Vinci FIT SYNTHETICS line contains three brushes with synthetic fibres: two round brushes (no. 4 and no. 8) and one flat brush (no. 8). They cover the basics of painting – fine details, lines and areas of colour – so you don't have to pick out individual brushes. The set is suitable for acrylic paints and can also be used for watercolour and gouache.

The synthetic fibres are fine, springy and hold paint well. The brushes have a short, neon green handle and a seamless metal ferrule. The short handle sits comfortably in the hand when you work at a table and on smaller formats, for example in art lessons or hobby projects. The three brushes come in a clear case.

Which brush for what?

The three brushes differ in shape and size, so you can quickly find the right one for your task:

• Round brush no. 4 (series 373): for fine details, outlines and small motifs

• Flat brush no. 8 (series 374): for covering areas with paint and for straight edges

Care and common mistakes

Rinse the brushes with water straight after painting, especially with acrylic paint: once dry, it can hardly be removed from the fibres and ruins the shape of the brush. Do not leave the brushes standing in a glass of water with the bristles downwards, as the fibres will bend. Dry them lying flat. With acrylic, it helps to thin the paint with a little water and apply it in thin layers, so the paint does not build up in the ferrule.
