da Vinci Series 2015 Acrylic Capsule Brush, Round

da Vinci Series 2015 Acrylic Capsule Brush – round brush for acrylic gradients

The da Vinci Series 2015 acrylic capsule brush is a round artist's brush for acrylic painting. The light bristles are densely set and arranged in a cone shape, held in a metal capsule and mounted on a raw wooden handle. According to the manufacturer, the brush is intended for soft, large-area gradients and for granulating large surfaces.

With regular use, the shape of the bristles adapts to your painting style, so over time the brush becomes your own tool. Choose your size from the options.

Working with the capsule brush

For soft gradients, place two colours next to each other wet-on-wet and blend the transition zone with light pressure and loose, crossing strokes. Acrylic dries quickly, so work the transitions promptly while the colours are still wet.

Which size?

The higher the number, the broader the brush: choose smaller sizes for smaller formats and transitions in tight spaces, and larger ones for wide areas and broad gradients. A round capsule brush of this type is less suited to details and fine lines; a narrower round or pointed brush is a better choice for those.

Care

Rinse the brush out with water straight after painting. Dried acrylic is no longer water-soluble and is very hard to remove from the base of the bristles at the capsule. Store the brush with the bristles pointing up or lying flat so that it keeps its shape.
