Rayher Bead Loom – adjustable for necklaces, bands and jewellery

The Rayher special bead loom is an adjustable plastic frame loom that Rayher developed specifically for weaving with Miyuki Delica seed beads. You can use it to weave beaded jewellery with precise, delicate patterns, for example bands, necklaces, pendants, brooches or earrings.

The loom measures 12 × 32 cm and the length is adjustable: set it to the full length for long pieces such as necklaces and bands, and shorter for small pieces such as pendants, brooches or earrings. The weaving width is 9.5 cm. Detailed assembly instructions are included in the pack.

Weaving beads on the loom

In bead weaving, you first stretch the warp threads lengthways over the loom. There is always one more warp thread than the number of beads per row. For each row, you then thread the beads onto the weft thread, pass it under the warp threads and press the beads up from below between the warp threads. Finally, pass the needle back through all the beads above the warp threads. This holds every bead firmly between two warp threads.

Avoiding common mistakes

Stretch the warp threads evenly taut, as loose threads make the edges wavy and the pattern uneven. Count out the beads for each row from a pattern chart before weaving them in. That way, a mistake shows up before it is woven into the piece. Set the length of the loom to suit the piece of jewellery before you stretch the threads.
