Prym Jersey Elastic – soft elastic for waistbands and skirt hems

Prym Jersey Elastic is a flat, soft elastic band, 20 mm wide, that you use to reinforce waistbands or for cuffs and skirt hems on light, stretchy fabrics such as jersey. It feels comfortable against the skin and gives when worn. Choose your colour from the options.

The band is made of 59% polyester, 29% elastane and 12% polyamide. It is washable up to 60 °C and tumble-dryer safe, so it stays easy to care for even on clothes that are worn often. It is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which matters for clothing that is in direct contact with the skin.

Sewing with the band

To reinforce a waistband, place the band along the seam allowance and stitch it down with a zigzag or stretch stitch. Stretch it evenly as you sew so that the fabric does not ripple later. Pin the band in place at short intervals beforehand so that it does not slip. Sew with a jersey needle and thread that gives, so the seam does not break when stretched.
