Prym soft elastic 25 mm – elastic for fine, lightweight fabrics

Prym soft elastic (art. no. 955374) is a 25 mm wide white elastic for fine, lightweight fabrics. You can thread it through waistbands and hems of skirts, trousers or pyjamas, or sew it on. According to Prym, the elastic is sturdy, keeps its shape when stretched and does not dig in. It is made of 74% polyester and 26% elastodiene and has an elasticity of 150%. You can wash it at up to 60 °C and tumble dry it. It is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

The pack contains 1 m. For small cuffs, one piece is often enough for several garments.

Using the elastic

To thread it through, sew a casing that is slightly wider than the elastic, leaving a small opening. Thread the elastic through with a safety pin, sew the ends together with an overlap and close the opening. When sewing it on, stretch the elastic slightly as you sew so that the fabric is gathered evenly afterwards. A stretch stitch such as zigzag stitch stops the seam from breaking when worn.
