Prym Elastic Band Strong in Black – Elastic to Thread Through or Sew On

The Prym Elastic Band Strong is a 25 mm wide woven elastic in black for trouser, skirt and waistbands, pyjamas and jackets. You thread it through a hem or sew it on. According to Prym, the band keeps its shape when stretched, does not curl up thanks to its special weave and does not dig in. It is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. You get 1 m on the card.

Using the elastic

To thread it through, sew a casing slightly wider than the band so that it does not twist. Attach a safety pin to the end of the band and thread the band through the casing. Then sew the ends together, overlapping, and close the opening in the casing. To sew it on, lay the band on the waistband and stitch it down with a stretch stitch such as zigzag, so that the seam does not break when stretched.

Visible or hidden

The band can be hidden inside a hem once threaded through, or used as a black accent visible on the fabric. As it is washable up to 60 °C and tumble dryer safe, it stays practical for everyday clothing that is washed often.
