Queensland Collection Jute is a natural yarn made from 100% jute for crocheting and knitting bags, baskets, coasters and home accessories. The jute fibre has a grippy, rustic texture and gives your projects a natural, handmade look. Choose your colour from the options.

Each ball weighs 100 g and has a length of approx. 100 m, so you can plan the quantity for your project easily: for larger baskets or bags, allow for several balls. According to the manufacturer, use 3.75–4.5 mm needles for knitting and a 4.5–5.5 mm hook for crochet.

Working with jute yarn

Jute is a firm natural fibre with little stretch. This makes it well suited to projects that need to hold their shape, such as baskets, bags, kitchen mats or coasters. For baskets and bags, work fairly tightly so the stitches become dense. For knitting, the manufacturer gives a tension of 21–24 stitches over 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. The yarn is also used for macramé.

Care

Hand wash jute items, dry them flat and do not iron them. They must not go in the tumble dryer, and you must not bleach them either. The yarn is vegan and biodegradable.
