Lang Yarns BOLD – chunky yarn for oversized jumpers, hats and scarves

Lang Yarns BOLD is a chunky knitting yarn made from 80 % virgin wool and 20 % acrylic, for jumpers, hats, scarves and home accessories. One ball weighs 100 g and has a length of approx. 90 m. With 9–10 mm needles, such a thick yarn works up quickly, and larger pieces like an oversized jumper knit up fast.

BOLD is the plain-coloured yarn from Lang Yarns. The marl version, BOLD COLOR, is a separate yarn with its own number. Choose your colour from the options.

What to use BOLD for

At just approx. 90 m per 100 g, BOLD is one of the thick yarns. That makes it suitable for projects that need to grow quickly: an oversized jumper, a hat with chunky stitches, a scarf or a home accessory such as a cushion cover. The virgin wool content gives a woolly knitted fabric, and the acrylic completes the blend.

Quantity and tension

Because the length per ball is short, it is worth planning the quantity before you buy. As approximate guides, depending on the pattern, the ball band and shop information give: women's jumper size M approx. 700 g, men's jumper size M approx. 900 g and child's jumper (10 years) approx. 500 g. At 100 g per ball, that is roughly 5 to 9 balls. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.
