Brushed Cashmere Yarn from Lotus Yarns is a fine knitting yarn made from 82% extra fine merino wool and 18% cashmere, for light, soft pieces such as scarves, shawls, jumpers or hats. The manufacturer sells this yarn under the name Brushed Cashmerino. The fibre is brushed, which gives the knitted fabric a fluffy, soft look. One ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 290 m.

A length of 290 m per 50 g is equivalent to around 580 m per 100 g, so the yarn is thin and light. This makes it easy to work out the amount you need for your project: simply compare the length with the metres stated in your pattern. Choose your colour from the options.

What the yarn is suited to

Merino wool and cashmere are two fine fibres that work well in garments worn directly against the skin or around the neck. The brushed strand blurs the individual stitches slightly, so stocking stitch, simple rib or plain lace patterns work well. Very fine textured patterns such as small cables tend to get lost in the pile. With the recommended needle size of 2.25–3.25 mm you knit a fine, light fabric. If you would like a more open result, knit a tension swatch with a larger needle and check whether you like the fabric. What matters is the tension given in your pattern.

Care

According to the manufacturer, wash the yarn or the finished piece by hand in cold water and dry it flat. Press out the water gently and do not hang it up wet, so that it does not lose its shape.
