Lang Yarns Cashmere Light – soft cashmere yarn for accessories and jumpers

Lang Yarns Cashmere Light is a knitting yarn made from 88% cashmere and 12% polyamide, for hats, snoods, scarves, jumpers and cardigans. According to the manufacturer, the cashmere comes from the fine undercoat of the cashmere goat. The yarn is lofty and light, and the small proportion of polyamide helps your knitted pieces keep their shape. One ball weighs 25 g and has a length of approx. 85 m. Choose your colour from the options.

Knitted on 5.5–6 mm needles, the yarn works up as a worsted weight. This gives a soft, relaxed fabric that suits cosy pieces worn close to the neck and face.

What to knit with Cashmere Light

The yarn is light and lofty, so even larger pieces stay pleasantly light. It suits accessories such as hats, snoods and scarves, as well as jumpers and cardigans. Because cashmere is very fine, it is best used for pieces worn directly against the skin or at the neck.

Planning quantities and knitting

A ball weighs only 25 g, so larger pieces need a lot of balls. For a jumper in size M, the manufacturer gives approx. 450 g for men and 375 g for women, and approx. 200 g for a 10-year-old child. That is around 18, 15 and 8 balls respectively. Buy the whole quantity from the same dye lot if you can, so that no colour differences show. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. According to the manufacturer, it is 20 stitches and 31 rows over 10 × 10 cm. For care, Lang Yarns recommends a wool detergent.
