Schmincke LINO-Retarder – more open time for lino printing inks

Schmincke LINO-Retarder is a ready-to-use retarder for lino printing inks. It extends the open time of the ink, so you have more time for inking up and printing before it starts to set. According to Schmincke, it is water-miscible and contains gum arabic, additives and water.

The retarder is used undiluted and can be mixed directly into Schmincke lino printing inks. As well as the longer working time, the transparency and gloss of the ink are said to increase. Like Schmincke lino printing inks, it does not dry waterproof. Choose the tube size from the options.

Using LINO-Retarder

Put the lino printing ink on your inking plate and mix in the retarder in small amounts until the ink stays open for as long as you need for inking up and printing. Add it gradually: the more medium you add, the longer the ink stays wet, and the more its opacity may change. A test print on the paper you plan to use will show you beforehand how the ink behaves.

Cleaning and storage

Close the tube again straight after use. Clean tools with water or LINO-Clean. Store the retarder in a cool, dry place and protect it from frost.
