The Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen Brush 12 Basic Colours set (art. no. 267421) is a set of twelve brush pens for sketches, illustrations, layouts and fashion drawings. The drawing ink is pigmented, lightfast, waterproof and permanent. It is also acid-free, pH-neutral and odourless.

The brush tip is flexible and holds its shape. With light pressure you draw fine lines, and with more pressure you get broader strokes and areas of colour. This lets you switch between outline and colour fill without changing pens.

Working with the brush pens

As the ink is permanent, it cannot be erased. Sketch in pencil first, then go over the lines in ink. Only erase the pencil lines once the ink is dry. Because the ink is waterproof, you can colour dry lines with watercolours afterwards without them running. Try this first on a scrap of your paper. The ink does not bleed through the paper, so you can use a sketchbook on both sides.

Choosing a set

The basic colours are the primary colours for colourful illustrations and layouts. There is a separate 12-pen set of earth colours for natural tones, and one of greys for shading. Pitt Artist Pen Brush is also available as single colours and in other sets, in case individual colours run out.
