Faber-Castell Goldfaber colouring pencils, tin of 12 – break-resistant pencils for school and hobby
The Goldfaber colouring pencils from Faber-Castell in a tin of 12 are a coloured pencil set for school, hobby and artistic work. The 3.3 mm lead is soft, richly pigmented and lays down colour evenly. That suits quick sketches, hatching and softly blended transitions.
The lead is smudge-proof and water-resistant, so finished drawings don't smudge easily. Faber-Castell bonds the lead firmly into the wood with Secural bonding. This makes the pencils break-resistant if they are dropped or put under strain during sharpening. In the metal tin, the 12 pencils are protected and quick to reach.
Working with Goldfaber pencils
For hatching and gradients, start with light pressure and build up the colour in several layers. This keeps the soft lead sharp for longer and lets you mix shades, for example yellow over blue for a fresh green. For fine lines, sharpen the pencils with a standard sharpener and turn them slightly as you draw so the point wears evenly. As the lead is smudge-proof and water-resistant, you can lay areas of colour over one another without smudging the layer underneath.
Which set suits you?
The 12 colours cover the basic shades from white through yellow, orange, red, blue and green to brown and black. That is enough for school, getting started and sketching on the go, and the metal tin fits easily in a bag. If you need more in-between shades, Goldfaber colouring pencils are also available in tins of 24 and 48.
