DEKA Permanent DECK – opaque fabric paint for dark fabrics

DEKA Permanent DECK (PermDeck) fabric paint is a fully opaque, water-based textile paint for dark fabrics. You can paint with it, stencil, or print with stamps and other printing blocks. The bottle contains 25 ml. Choose your colour from the options.

According to DEKA, the paint has a soft feel, is lightfast and gives clear, intense shades. It has a thick, creamy, paste-like consistency and can be mixed with the other PermDeck colours. For pastel shades, mix it with PermDeck White 23-92. For light fabrics, DEKA offers the separate DEKA Permanent range.

Using PermDeck

The paint adheres best to natural fibres without finishing. Fabric softener also counts as a finish, so pre-wash new fabrics without fabric softener.

• Stir the paint well before use.
• Place cardboard under the fabric, as the paint can bleed through.
• Apply with a hair or bristle brush, and not in several layers, as this reduces wash fastness.
• Carry out a painting and washing test on a swatch beforehand.
• Wash out brushes and tools immediately with cold water.

Fixing and washing

Once dry, iron the fabric from the reverse for approx. 3 minutes with a hot iron, setting the temperature to suit the type of fabric. Wash at max. 60 °C on a delicates cycle with detergent for delicates, and turn painted jeans inside out. According to DEKA, stains from the paint can no longer be removed even without iron fixing, so work with a protective surface and clothes that can get dirty.
