The Faber-Castell Pitt pastel pencils in the metal tin of 12 (art. no. 112112) are artist pencils for detailed pastel drawings. The leads are highly pigmented, wax- and oil-free, and give rich, intense colour. With the 4.3 mm lead you can draw outlines and small details that are hard to achieve with broad pastel sticks.

According to the manufacturer, the leads are acid-free and very lightfast. That matters if your work is to hang framed on a wall for a long time. The twelve pencils are protected in the metal tin.

Working with the pastel pencils

Build up colour in thin layers and blend it with your finger or a paper stump if needed. According to Faber-Castell, the pencils can be blended into fine colour gradients, like the Polychromos pastel sticks. Only minimal fixing is needed to protect the finished drawing, and according to the manufacturer the colour brilliance is retained. Fix only at the end and spray in thin layers from a distance so that the pigments do not run.

Set of 12 or a larger set?

The series is available with 12, 24, 36 and 60 pencils. The tin of 12 suits sketches and smaller formats, where you mix shades by layering and blending. If you need more gradations, choose a larger set.
