Revell Aqua Color – water-based acrylic model paint for brush and airbrush

Revell Aqua Color is a water-based acrylic paint for model making, supplied in handy 18 ml pots. The range includes 88 colours; choose your colour from the options. The paints can be thinned with water, have a low odour and are non-flammable. According to Revell, they contain practically no organic solvents, so you only need water for thinning and cleaning.

The colours can be mixed with one another. The paint is fully dry after 2 to 3 hours and can be overpainted after about an hour. According to Revell, that is around six times faster than with Email Color paints and shortens the waiting time when applying several coats.

Applying with a brush

The paint brushes on easily and gives smooth surfaces. According to Revell, the result is comparable to Email Color paints. Apply several thin coats rather than one thick coat and leave about an hour to dry in between. Rinse brushes and tools with water straight after use, before the paint dries on. Close the pot tightly after use and store it frost-free.

Using with an airbrush

Aqua Color is also suitable for airbrushing. Please note:

• Do not thin the paint too much: 20 to 25 % water at most
• Aqua Color Mix is suitable for thinning and also works as a retarder, preventing the paint from drying in the airbrush
• Clean the airbrush with water immediately after spraying
• If the paint has already dried on, Airbrush Clean or Aqua Color Clean will help

Combining with Email Color

Once the drying time has been observed, you can paint Aqua Color and Email Color paints (14 ml) over one another. You should not mix them together, as the systems are different. Mix Aqua Color paints only with other Aqua Color paints.
