Prym straight knitting needles 6 mm – lightweight aluminium needles with knob

The Prym straight knitting needles in 6 mm are two lightweight aluminium needles, each with a knob and 35 cm long. You can knit cardigans, jumpers and other pieces on them, working in rows back and forth. According to Prym, the shaft is pore-free and abrasion-resistant, so the stitches slide smoothly along the needle. The finely rounded tip picks up the stitches without splitting the yarn.

The knob at the end of the needle stops the stitches from slipping off. The needle size is colour-coded on the knob, so you can find the right needle again quickly in your knitting basket.

Working with straight knitting needles

Straight knitting needles have a single point: you cast on the stitches on one needle, knit row by row and turn the work at the end of each row. The knob holds the stitches on the needle, even when you put your work down for a moment. At 35 cm long, the needles suit medium numbers of stitches. For very wide pieces with many stitches, a circular needle is usually more comfortable.

Which size to choose

With 6 mm needles you knit fairly loosely and quickly, for example with thicker yarn. The needle size you actually need is given in your pattern. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.
