addi SOS Lifeline Cable for addiClick – thread a lifeline straight into a row of stitches
The addi SOS lifeline cable is a cable with a slit for the addiClick system. With it, you thread a lifeline straight into a row of stitches when working intricate patterns. If you go wrong later, you only rip back to that row instead of losing the whole piece.
In complicated patterns such as lace patterns, the stitches are hard to keep under control when ripping back. The lifeline limits how far you rip back and gives you a safe point to start again from.
Using the lifeline
Thread the lifeline in while your stitches are on the cable. The lifeline then runs through the stitches of exactly that row. Use a smooth yarn in a contrasting colour so that you can see the thread easily when ripping back.
- Hold the cable firmly and push it together slightly so that the slit opens a little.
- Thread the lifeline into the slit.
- Carry on knitting as normal.
When is a lifeline worthwhile?
Put it in before difficult pattern repeats or after completing a pattern row, especially in lace patterns. A mistake will then only cost you the rows back to the thread. The cable is designed for the addiClick system and can be used with addiClick tips. The needle tips are not included.
