Prym tubular rivets Ø 9 mm – rivets with tool for leather and thick fabrics

Prym tubular rivets (art. no. 403152) join leather and other thicker materials permanently, for example on bags, belts or leatherwork. They are made of rustproof brass in a silver colour and have a diameter of 9 mm. The post length of 6–9 mm covers material thicknesses in this range.

The pack contains 8 tubular rivets, the matching tool and instructions. All you need in addition to fix them is a hammer.

Setting the rivets

First punch a hole in the material that matches the post of the rivet. Push the post with the head through from one side, place the counterpart on top and hammer it firmly into place using the tool supplied and the hammer. Work on a firm, level surface and use even, controlled blows. If you practise on an offcut first, you will see how far the rivet closes.

Which tubular rivet to choose

What matters is the total thickness of all the layers you are joining: it should fall within the post length range of 6–9 mm. If the post is too short, the rivet will not close cleanly. If it is too long, it may bend when hammered. For thinner material, the Prym range offers other sizes, for example Ø 9 mm for 4–6 mm or Ø 7.5 mm for 3–4 mm.
