This bottle opener (cap lifter) has a metal head and a flat handle in untreated beech wood, which you decorate yourself. It is approx. 143 mm long. You can paint, engrave, carve or pyrograph the handle. That turns an everyday item into a personal gift, for example for a birthday or Father's Day.

Decorating the handle

The untreated wood takes paint and pyrography well. If needed, lightly sand the handle with fine sandpaper and wipe off the dust. Sketch your design in pencil first. Pyrography and engraving show up clearly on the pale wood. If you are painting, it is better to apply the paint thinly in several coats and let each coat dry. Mask off the metal head beforehand so that no paint gets on it. As the handle is often held in damp hands when in use, a coat of clear varnish or wood wax protects the decorated surface.
