Efco Plastiform Powder – lightweight modelling clay to mix yourself

Efco Plastiform is an air-drying modelling clay supplied as a powder (200 g), which you mix with water to make a workable dough. Once it has dried in the air, the material is as light as wood. You can sand, saw, drill and glue it, and paint it with any paints. This makes it suitable for figures, decorative objects and models that you want to work on further after drying.

As you mix the dough yourself, you decide how much to make for each project. The powder only becomes workable once water is added, and until then it can be stored dry.

Mixing the dough

You do not need a bowl or spoon: the mixture is made directly in the bag.

• Put the contents of the pack (200 g) into a freezer bag.
• Add approx. 230–250 ml of water, depending on the application.
• Seal the bag well and knead it thoroughly.
• Leave the dough in the airtight bag to rest for approx. 3 hours.
• Knead it thoroughly again before use.

Modelling, drying and finishing

When modelling, work with damp, not wet, hands: dip your fingers in water and lightly dab them on a dry towel. Too much water on your hands softens the surface of the dough. Keep any dough you are not using at the moment tightly sealed so that it does not dry out. Depending on its thickness, Plastiform hardens in the air in 1–2 days, and thicker pieces take correspondingly longer. After that, you can sand edges smooth, saw or drill the piece and glue individual parts together. You can paint it with any paints.
