Cernit Celtic Knot Texture Mat – Relief Pattern for Polymer Clay

The Cernit Celtic Knot texture mat (art. no. CE95023) presses a Celtic knot pattern into modelling clays such as FIMO or Cernit. It works like a stamp: you press the mat and the clay together and get a relief pattern, for example for jewellery, table decorations or home decor. According to Cernit, the mat is very flexible, washable and reusable. It is made of rubber, not silicone.

At 9 × 9 cm, the surface is large enough for pendants, coasters or embellishments. According to Cernit, it can also be used with wax, as well as on paper or fabric.

Embossing the pattern

Roll out the modelling clay evenly, at least thick enough for the relief to fit in completely. Press the mat firmly and evenly onto the clay with the pattern side down, ideally with a roller, then peel it off slowly. To help the clay release more easily, you can first brush the mat thinly with mould oil or dust it with a little talcum powder. Then cut out the embossed piece and harden it following the instructions for your modelling clay. The mat is not left on the piece but is removed beforehand.

Care and use

Rinse the mat with water after use so that no residue builds up in the fine lines, and leave it to dry. That way you can use it again and again, including with different colours of clay.
