Rayher gold crimp beads – securing beads and clasps

Rayher crimp beads are small connecting parts for jewellery making: you use them to secure beads and clasps on jewellery wire. The bag contains 40 gold-coloured beads with an inner diameter of 0.8 mm and an outer diameter of 1.5 mm.

The inner diameter tells you whether your wire will fit: the wire end that is led back must also pass through the crimp bead, so you need a fine jewellery wire. The small outer size of 1.5 mm looks discreet on a bracelet or necklace.

Securing a bead or a clasp

Thread the crimp bead onto the jewellery wire, then the loop of the clasp or the bead. Pass the wire end back through the crimp bead, leaving a small loop so that the clasp stays movable. Pull the wire so that no gap is left between the beads and the clasp, then press the crimp bead firmly together with pliers. Only trim the protruding wire end once the crimp bead is sitting securely.
