Efco stainless steel split rings, 8 mm diameter – a secure connection for jewellery

Efco's stainless steel split rings connect eyelets, pendants and clasps in handmade jewellery, for example on necklaces and bracelets. The bag contains 20 silver-coloured rings with a diameter of 8 mm.

A split ring is made of two overlapping coils, like a key ring. This holds a component more securely than a simple open ring, which can bend open under strong pull or weight. With 20 pieces you have enough for several items of jewellery or for replacing connections on a chain.

Working with split rings

Prise the two coils apart slightly at the split with your fingernail or a pair of split ring pliers. Slide the eyelet of the pendant or the chain link on and keep turning the ring until the component sits on the coil. Turn the ring open as you would a key ring rather than pulling it wide apart, otherwise it will lose its shape and no longer close neatly. With a diameter of 8 mm, eyelets, chain links and small clasps generally fit well on the ring.
